Nautilus Mobile Experience
Translating the content seamlessly across platforms.
Project Overview

The original nautil.us website was designed only for desktops. This became a problem when the company realized more than 30% of readers were coming from mobile.
I was the design lead on the mobile project. I studied – along with editors and designers – the core functionality of the platform and translated it to be mobile friendly while maintaining the essential elements of the desktop experience. For example, the idea of an infinite scroll isn’t present on the website but makes more sense on mobile, especially when users are exploring old articles.
The work was done with an external developer, and I was responsible for creating wireframes, designing iconography and UI, providing mobile templates, and ensuring that the brand style guide was followed in detail so that the new product was on brand.
